Battery Powered-This type of lantern is one of Coleman’s most popular models. These lanterns are powered with D-batteries and the average light lasts up to 25 hours of non-stop. Each model is built with a sturdy non-breakable glass or plastic covering and each is heat proof to prevent any burns. There are various types in this category including the florescent lighting, light bulb, Camo lamp (camo exterior), personal and family sizes and detachable lanterns that are great for large groups.

Rechargeable-This model is very convenient in the fact that you do not have to purchase new batteries when the batteries run low. You are simply able to plug the light into a power outlet or into your car’s cigarette lighter to recharge the batteries. This lamp is very convenient for long camping trips plus it saves you a lot of money that you would have spent on more batteries.

Packaway-This model is also a battery powered lantern that is great for backpackers or for anyone that is trying to save some room with packing. These lights fold down into at least half of their size so they can be easily stowed away into a backpack or box. This type comes in many different sizes from family large sized to the extremely small and light in weight backpacking packaway.

Propane-This type of lantern is fueled by propane and is easily lite with matches. This light is easily harnessed with a control knob so you will be able to dim and intensify the lighting to your satisfaction. Each is also outfitted with pressure regulation to keep the fuel and lighting constant. These models are built with strong glass and metal and also come with steadying leg bases to ensure that the lantern does not tip over. The average lighting time for these models on average is 15 hours.

Liquid fuel, Kerosene and Gas-These models are very similar to the propane models except for the fact that they either run off of Coleman’s liquid fuel, gas or kerosene.
